The Queen's Beasts Collection bears ancient symbols of ancestry, power and heraldry in a series of prestigious coins. Royal Mint Designer Jody Clark portrayed ten animals guarding Her Majesty the Queen's coronation in 1953; each represents a line of origin drawn up by a young woman who was to be crowned before men.

The coin depicting the White Horse from Hanover is the last edition of the collection - a symbol that reached Her Majesty through her Hanoverian ancestors. In 1714, George Ludwig, ruler of the German Duchy of Hanover, ascended the throne of Great Britain, as George I brought Heraldry to the region using a white horse on a red background. The shield holding a white horse depicts three English lions, a lion from Scotland, a fleur-de-lis from France, an Irish harp and Hanoverian weapons. The white horse from Hanover is shown on the right and hides it differently from the mythical relative of this unicorn. With a secure chain mail background, the realism of the White Horse of Hanover is reflected in its integrity.
